Berikut cara mengubah nama (Rename) tombol START pada Windows XP:

LANGKAH 1: Bypassing Windows File Protection

  • Masuk My Computer, klik Tools > Folder options > View
  • Pilih pilihan ‘Show all hidden files and folders’ dan uncheck pilihan ‘Hide protected operating system files’ lalu uncheck juga pilihan ‘Hide extension for known file types’
  • Masuk ke C:\windows\system32\restore, pilih file ‘filelist.xml’, klik kanan, klik properties dan uncheck pilihan read-only
  • Buka file ‘filelist.xml’ menggunakan Notepad.
  • Ketik tambahan baris ini: %systemroot%\explorer.exe (seperti pada contoh dibawah) dan save file

  • Masuk ke C:\windows\system32\dllcache, ada backup copy ‘explorer.exe’. Ubah namanya menjadi ‘explorer.bak’

LANGKAH 2: Merubah nama Tombol START

  1. Gunakan tool Resource Hacker, (bila belum terinstall anda dapat mengunduh disini) buka file ‘explorer.exe’ yang terletak di C:\Windows
  2. Expand string, expand 37, klik 1033
  3. Di samping kanan, ubah nama START menjadi nama apapun yang dikehendaki, misal: “Tes!” lalu tekan tombol compile script.
  4. Ulangi prosedur nomor 2 diatas untuk string 38, 1033.
  5. Save di file menu, jika error muncul ulangi langkah prosedur 3 dan 4.
  6. Restart komputer, selesai.
